New International Students
If entering the U.S. for your studies, you must take at least one in-person or hybrid course. Please see your academic adviser for assistance finding a course that meets the requirements.
Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccinations for All Wayne State Students
Wayne State University is requiring all students who plan to be on campus during the fall 2021 semester receive a COVID-19 vaccination and submit proof of full vaccination by August 30, 2021. Approved vaccines include Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Cinovac and Covishield. The vaccines are safe, free and available at the Campus Health Center. If you are not yet vaccinated, you can learn more and make a vaccine appointment online. You should get an accepted vaccine as soon as possible.
We understand that your situation as an international student, particularly if you are outside of the U.S., may be different. We know that home country circumstances and travel arrangements could prevent you from getting an approved vaccine prior to arriving on campus.
We will assist you and ensure that you can meet the mandate and attend classes as planned, even if you arrive after the deadline. Extensions will be provided on a case-by-case basis, and we will work with you on an individualized plan for vaccination. You must email the Campus Health Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your situation, including your date of arrival in the U.S.
